There is a question on my assigment for finding the area of a circle. The question is "Luke uses rug hooking to make a new rug. He esimates that the cost of the yarn will be $5 per foot. How much will he spend on yarn?" Then the question stops and goes into bullet points asking "The diameter of the rug is 4.5 feet. What is the radius? ___ feet" For that Part I know the answer (I put 2.25) But the other fill-in-the-blank parts confuse me. It then says "What is the Area of the rug?" and under it says "A=r2" (the 2 is tiny like a expotent) And under that it says "A= (_____)(______)2" (and the 2 s tiny again) thats the part where im confused, what do they want me to type there?

To answer part B we will substitute π and r in the given equation:

A=\pi r^2.

From part A we get that r=2.25 feet.

Substituting π=3.1416 and r=2.25 feet in the given equation we get:

A=(3.1416)(2.25feet)^2.

Answer:

A=(3.1416)(2.25feet)^2.
