The goal is to collect 250 cans of food.

Ms Rosas's class collected 40 cans.

Ms Bello's class collected all needed to reach the goal but ten cans.

To determine how many cans they collected, the first step is the number of cans needed after Ms Rosa's class collected the 40 cans, to do so you have to subtract these cans from the 250 goal

250-40=210

So the number of cans that are left to collect is 210, from these cans we know that Ms Bello's class collected all but ten, which means they are 10 cans short to reach the goal.

To determine the number of cans they collected you have to subtract 10 from 210

210-10=200

The children at Ms' Bello's class collected 200 cans.
