We have a rectangular room

The long = 2wide, L = 2W

We find the perimeter when we sum all it sides and equal to 24meters:

So P = L + L + W+W

P= 2L + 2W = 24m

But we have the value of 2W = L

Replace it on the function:

24m = 2L + 2W

24m = 2L + L

24m = 3L

Divide both sides by 3

24m/3 = 3L/3

8m = L

So the length is 8

Replace on the L = 2W to find W

8 = 2W

Divide both sides by 2

8/2 = 2W/2

4 = W
