4(2x + 3) = 2(3x - 4)
8x + 12 = 6x - 8
8x - 6x = -8 - 12
2x = - 20
x = -20/2
x = -10......if u get a variable equal to a number, then there is 1 solution

if u would have ended up with 0 = 0 or 5 = 5...or something that is equal, then there would be infinite solutions.
if u would have ended up with 2 = 3, or 5 = 7...or something unequal, then there would have been no solution.
