12=10-6z+8
12=-6z+18
12-18=-6z
-6=-6z
z=1

12 = 10 - 2(3z - 4) |use distributive property: a(b - c) = ab - ac
12 = 10 - 6z + 8
12 = 18 - 6z |subtract 18 from both sides
-6 = -6z |divide both sides by (-6)
z = 1
