There are a lot of differences between today's politics and the ancients Athens politics but some of the more prevalent ones are these: In the days of Athens, women, slaves, children, and immigrants were not allowed to vote. Today in the US, legal citizens of the country can vote. Also, In ancient Athenian democracy, the right to citizenship was not determined by socio-economic status; but the power of appropriation, and relations between classes were directly affected by democratic citizenship.
