Here you go: 1) 6/9 = 6*2/9*2 = 12/18
2) 6/9 = 6*3/9*3 = 18/27
Does this help you?

1. Decrease the nominator and denominator equal number times. You know that 6=2·3 and 9=3·3. Then

(6)/(9)=(2\cdot 3)/(3\cdot 3)=(2)/(3).

This form of a fraction is the simpliest form.

2. Increase the nominator and denominator equal number times.

(6)/(9)=(6\cdot 3)/(9\cdot 3)=(18)/(27).
