Argus was a monster from Greek Mythology who was said to have 100 eyes. He was used by Hera to maintain watch over lo. It was an appropriate name for a newspaper because they report news and events and actions that occur within an area and to report such things the newspaper has to be alert and watchful like Argus. So like the name Argus gives them like a title and a goal to give the news correctly and a source of creditability by comparing themselves to something well known and useful.

Answer:

The name "The Eastern Argus" was appropriate name for a newspaper as it connected with the Ancient Greek myth of Argus Panoptes who was an effective watchman for the community.

Step-by-step explanation:

The myth says that Argus was a giant who served as a guardian, and who had one-hundred eyes that could see everything. Argus was an effective watchman, and while some of his eyes were sleeping the rest would be awake so that he could not miss anything that happened. The name "The Eastern Argus" for a newspaper is appropriate as it is elusively referring to the role of journalism as being the watchman and guardian of what happens within a community. In this case the newspaper and its journalists and staff are always looking for the events that are important to the society and that the public should be aware of.
