I want to say it is B. In my opinion I would eliminate A and D right away. That would leave us with B and C, but I feel like if you have a thesis you are making a conclusion in theory so I would go with B.

A thesis statement is one sentence that arise at the start.it focus on your
essay and tells your reader what the essay is going to be about.It also has the conclusion,purpose and contents of an essay.
therefore,
the right answer is B) a direct quotation, paraphrase, or summary
