the total of the grades = 3.12 * 14 = 43.68
one student drops out......leaving 13 students.....new total grades added is : 43.68 - 2.41 = 41.27

2 new students arrive....now we have a total of 15 students.
new total grades are : 41.27 + 3.97 + 4.26 = 49.50
and the new GPA average is : 49.50/15 = 3.3 <===

Answer:

3.3

Explanation:

Given: The mean GPA in a class of 14 students is 3.12. One student, whose GPA is 2.41, drops the class. Two new students, whose GPAs are 3.97 and 4.26

To Find: new mean GPA of the class

Solution:

Mean GPA of 14 student of class
=3.12

Sum of GPA of 14 students
=\text{mean GPA}*\text{total students}

=3.12*14

43.68

When one student drops the class

sum of GPA of 13 students
=43.68-2.41

=41.27

When two new students join the class

sum of GPA of 15 students
=41.27+3.97+4.26

49.5

new mean GPA of the class
=\frac{(\text{Sum of GPA of All students})}{\text{total students}}

(49.5)/(15)

3.3

The new mean GPA of the class is
3.3
