How can you tell if an amino acid is hydrophobic or hydrophillic?

You can determine is the amino acid is hydrophobic or hydrophilic by looking at the structure of the amino acid. If the R group has a charge and there are OH groups it is not hydrophobic rather it is hydrophilic. If a ring is present and methyl groups dominate the end of the R group, then it is hydrophobic.
