It has been suggested what the wall in “The Wanderer” might symbolize. Now expand that thought by writing one or two paragraphs in which you explain why that symbolism is appropriate. Use examples from the poem to support your position.

Answer:

The wall represents two very different things. First, it represents the literal physical walls the Wanderer comes upon during his travels upon the sea. Second, the wall is a figurative concept that symbolizes the mental walls the Wanderer must scale in order to find security.

Step-by-step explanation:

The two paragraphs you can do are of the different meanings. I pulled this answer from enotes.com if that helps, and it will provide more context to the symbolism of the wall.

The Wanderer is an old English poem preserved only in anthology known as the Exeter, the date of the poem is impossible to determine, but it must have been composed. Like most of Old English poetry, it has been preserved in a place that is meant to be use in the future. I hope this will help
