The probability of an event happening is given by the ratio between the amount of outcomes where this event happens by the total amount of possible outcomes.

The probability of not getting a plum from the bag is given by the ratio between the amount of items that are not plums, by the total amount of items in the bag.

We have 6 plums, 14 clementines, and 12 nectarines. The total amount of items in the bag is given by the sum of those 3 quantities.

6+14+12=32

If we subtract the amount of plums by the total amount of items, we're going to have the amount of items that are not plums.

32-6=26

Then, the probability that the teacher does not pick a plum is

(26)/(32)=(13)/(16)=81.25\%\approx81\%
