The slope is ratio of change in y-coordinate to the change in x-coordinate.

Determine the slope of the function.

\begin{gathered} m=(2-(-8))/(1-(-1)) \\ =(10)/(2) \\ =5 \end{gathered}

Thus slope of function is equal to 5.
