Given the following question:

We are given a cookie recipe that takes 5/3 cups of sugar, 4 eggs, 8/3 tbs salt, 10/3 cup of chocolate chips to make.

We need to come up with a new recipe to be able to make 4 batches of cookies, to find this answer we multiply the fractions by 4, since we are trying to make 4 batches of cookies.

\begin{gathered} (5)/(3),4,(8)/(3),(10)/(3) \\ (5)/(3)*4 \\ 4=(4)/(1) \\ (5)/(3)*(4)/(1)=(20)/(3)=20/3=6(2)/(3) \\ (8)/(3)*(4)/(1)=(32)/(3)=32/3=10(2)/(3) \\ (10)/(3)*(4)/(1)=(40)/(3)=13(1)/(3) \\ 4*4=16 \\ \end{gathered}

We need 6 2/3 cups of sugar, 16 eggs, 10 2/3 tbs of salt, and 13 1/3 chocolate chips to make four batches of cookies.

Now for the second question:

We now want a recipe to only make enough cookies for just you, and we want to make 1/2 the orginal recipe, to make this new recipe.

To find the answer we divide the recipe by 1/2.

\begin{gathered} (5)/(3),4,(8)/(3),(10)/(3) \\ (5)/(3)/(1)/(2)=(5)/(3)*(2)/(1)=(10)/(3)=3(1)/(1) \\ 4/2=2 \\ (8)/(3)/(1)/(2)=(8)/(3)*(2)/(1)=(16)/(3)=5(1)/(3) \\ (10)/(3)/(1)/(2)=(10)/(3)*(2)/(1)=(20)/(3)=6(2)/(3) \end{gathered}
