Given the equation :

5x + 4y = 20

the graph of the equation is a line, to draw the line we need two points

We will graph the equation using the intercepts of the line

X-intercept is the value of x when y = 0

Y-intercept is the value of y when x = 0

so, the intercepts are:


\begin{gathered} x=0\rightarrow4y=20\rightarrow y=(20)/(4)=5 \\ \\ y=0\rightarrow5x=20\rightarrow x=(20)/(5)=4 \end{gathered}

so, the line is passing through the points ( 0, 5 ) and ( 4, 0 )

The graph of the line is as shown in the following picture:
