How is over-irrigation damaging to soil?

Over-irrigation of the soil takes out all of the embedded nutrients and makes the soil fallow. In addition, it can lead to erosion and runoff, which can make the ground less stable and less able to hold fruits, vegetables, and plants. Irrigation in proper amounts allows for plants to take in the nutrients they need while not running the risk of being flooded out.
