How could you test whether 7 is a factor of 291

Divide 291 by 7. If it is a whole number it is a factor. If not, it isn't. In this case 291 divided by 7 = 41.571428 so it is not a factor.

All you need to do is divide 291 by 7. If the quotient is a whole number, then 7 would be a factor of 291.


Let's test it out then, look at the picture attached.


As you can see in the picture attached, there is a remainder, so this would mean that 7 is not a factor of 291.
