In a right triangle, use Pythagoras theorem
hypotenuse ^2 = (short leg)^2 + (long leg)^2
(short leg)^2 = hypotenuse^2-(long leg)^2
=41^2-40^2
= 1681-1600
= 81
short leg = sqrt(81)'
=9'
