Let the first number be x;

Then, if we take half of the first number, we have;

\begin{gathered} (1)/(2)* x \\ (x)/(2) \end{gathered}

Let the first number be y;

Also, if we double the second, then we have;

\begin{gathered} 2* y \\ 2y \end{gathered}

Then, the sum of the two is 14, we have the equation as;

(x)/(2)+2y=14
