In boot camp, a cadet must use a rope swing to cross an obstacle withoutfalling into the water hazard below. Unfortunately, they miss the platform onthe other side and swing back to where they started. If it takes the cadet 4.5seconds to swing from one side of the obstacle to the other and back, howlong is the rope swing? Use the formula:

Given: the cadet 4.5 seconds to swing from one side of the obstacle.

T=2\pi\sqrt{(L)/(9.8)}

Find: length of the rope.

Explanation:

\begin{gathered} T=2\pi\sqrt{(L)/(9.8)} \\ 4.5=2*3.14\sqrt{(L)/(9.8)} \\ (4.5)/(2*3.14)=\sqrt{(L)/(9.8)} \\ ((4.5)/(6.28))^2=(L)/(9.8) \\ 9.8*(20.25)/(39.44)=L \\ L=5.03\text{ meter} \end{gathered}

Final asnwer: the required answer is 5 meter.
