The total distance = 80m................ Given

There are 8 equally spaced hurdles ............ Given

Required is to find the space between the hurdles

The first hurdle is 12m from the start line

and

The last hurdle is 15.5m from the finishing line

Total distance left = 80 - 12 -15.5 = 52.5 m

To share the distance left equally we divide 52.5 by 8

= 52.5/8 = 6.5625 m

The hurdles are 6.5625m from each other because we divided the remaining space after subtractions equally between them
