1) x + y = 4
2) x - y = 6
-----------------
Add like terms of the two equations
2x + 0 = 10
2x = 10
x = 5
Look at the first equation:
x + y = 4
5 + y = 4
y = 4 - 5 = -1
y = -1
Answer: ( 5, -1)
