One major way that Enlightenment was influence by the Roman and Greek attitutudes is due to the fact that the authors of Enlightenment were reading Roman and Greek works, especially philosophy, and analysing them in detail. Especially Aristotle was valued as a starting point for many works during the Enlightenment.

Through the Roman and Greek ideas, the age of Enlightenment became for example more secular, that is, independent of religion.
