Why do some French verbs need Je Suis instead of Je vais in front of them? I have a French exam tomorrow, I'd love your help! :D

Its because je vais mean im going to and je suis means i am,they are both masculine
(thats what my academic french teacher said).

i know a little about French and i think its because one is feminine and one is masculine but you might want to check
