Atticus - Indirect Characterization
In this the author uses Atticus's statement about Mr. Cunningham to reveal Atticus as a caring and understanding person who doesn't judge people based on their income level. It also reveals Mr. Cunningham's character because it shows how Atticus views him. Indirect characterization is shown through a character's speech, thoughts, effects on others, actions, and looks.
Mr. Bennett - Direct and Indirect Characterization
In this excerpt many of the character's traits are revealed. Catherine and Lydia are directly characterized as disconcerted or indifferent. Mr. Bennett is indirectly characterized as observant.
