Why do people in Hawaii beat up the monk seals?

as a monk seal myself, i dont freaking know and im scared to leave my spot and go up to hoomans, but i going to say, i think its becuase we are like punching bags ;-;

They don't beat up monkey seals unless they get near them out of self defense.
