Answer is 9! :P

1.Simplify 4y−y+114y−y+11 to 3y+113y+11
3y+11=38

2.Subtract 11 from both sides3y=38−11

3.
Simplify 38−11 to 27
3y=27

4.
Divide both sides by 33
y=27/3

5.
Simplify 27/3 to 99
y=9

Therefore, Answer is 9! :P

Simple....

4y-y+11=18

You know you want to find y so just isolate the variable....

4y-y+11=38

Add the y's..

3y+11=38

Now, subtract 11 to isolate y...

3y+11=38
-11 -11

3y=27

Now...divide...

(3y)/(3) = (27)/(3)

y=9

Thus, your answer.
