8m-2=1+7m

Solve the equation for m,


\begin{gathered} 8m-2=1+7m \\ \text{Add 2 to both sides} \\ 8m-2+2=1+7m+2 \\ 8m=3+7m \\ \text{Subtract 7m from both sides} \\ 8m-7m=3+7m-7m \\ m=3 \end{gathered}

Answer: m = 3
