All you need to do is find the square root of 81, because the formula for the area of square is
.
The square root of 81 is 9 ( 9 x 9 = 81)
To double check, plug 9 into the formula.
area =
area =
area = 81

The formula for the area of a square is:
A=s²
Since we known that the area is 81ft², we can solve for the length of a side.
A=s²
81=s²
find the square root of both sides
9ft=s
The length of each side is 9ft
