Contempory MathAssume that a softball player has 0.46 probability of getting a hit in each at bat. Assume that the player bats four times. What is theprobability that she gets a hit only in her first at bat?The probability is(Round to four decimal places as needed.)

Getting a hit in each bat gives a probability of 0.46

Therefore, probability of not getting a hit:

1-0.46=0.54

We have a question on binomial probability where.

p = probability of occurence = 0.46

q = probability of non occurence = 0.54

n = sample space

r = no of expected outcome

Therefore, the probability of getting the hit in her first batting:

\begin{gathered} P=p^rq^(n-r) \\ P=0.46^1*0.54^3=0.0724 \end{gathered}

Probability that she gets a hit only in her first bat is 0.0724
