The three ways the capsid and docking proteins help the virus attach the host cell are:
1. It contains special sites that allow the virus to attach to its host. They interact on the three-dimensional structures on the capsid.
2. It protects the nucleic acid from digestion by enzymes.
3. Provides proteins the alolw the virus to penetrate the host cell membrane
