Write the equation of the line perpendicular to y=-5/7x+1 through the point (5,10). The answer should be in slope-intercept form

_______________________________________________

Slope-intercept form

y= mx + b

b = y-intercept

m is the slope

____________________

y=-5/7x+1

m= -5/7

___________________

The perpendicular line has the m2 slope

m1* m2= -1

m2= -1/ m1

m1 = -5/7

m2= 7/5 = 1 2/5

________________________

Using the point-slope form

y- y1 = m (x- x1)

and the point (5,10)

x1= 5; y1= 10

__________________

Remplacing the information

y- 10 = 7/5 (x- 5)

y = 7/5 x - 5*7/5 + 10

y = 7/5 x - 7+ 10

y = 7/5 x + 3

____________________

Answer

The line perpendicular to y=-5/7x+1 through the point (5,10) in slope-intercept form is y = 7/5 x + 3
