The Sugar Sweet Company is going to transport its sugar to market. It will cost $4500 to rent trucks, and it will cost anadditional $150 for each ton of sugar transported.Let C represent the total cost in dollars), and let S represent the amount of sugar (in tons) transported. Write an equationrelating C to S. Then use this equation to find the total cost to transport 13 tons of sugar.

The cost to rent the trucks is fixed, it doesn't depends on the amount of sugar. While the cost for each ton depends linearly. So the equation is:

C=150\cdot S+4500

To calculate the cost to transport 13 tons of sugar, we just substitute S for the value (13):

C=150\cdot13+4500=1950+4500=6450

The cost to transport 13 tons of sugar will be $6450.
