the price of 3 t-shirts is 42$. If each t-shirt costs the same amount, how much does Robert save by using a 20%-off coupon to buy 5 t-shirts.

$42 ÷ 3 = $14 (price of one t-shirt)
$14 × 5 = $70 (price of five t-shirts)

now find 10% of $70:
$70 ÷ 10 = $7

multiply the 10% by two to get 20%:
$7 × 2 = $14

So Robert saves $14, leaving him with a price of $56

42/3=14 (price of one shirt) 100-20=80 (robert buys 5 shirt each costing 80% of the original price) 14/100x80=11.20 (price of one shirt with a 20% discount) 11.20x5=56 cost of all 5 shirts
