To solve for x from the equation 3x – 13 = 7(x + 2) - 4(x - 7), we just have to follow these steps:

1. distribute the products of the right side to get rid of the parentheses

3x - 13 = 7(x + 2) - 4(x - 7)

3x - 13 = 7*x + 7*2 - 4*x - 4*7

3x - 13 = 7x + 14 - 4x - 28

2. Combine like terms on the right side:

3x - 13 = 7x - 4x + 14 - 28

3x - 13 = 3x - 14

3. Subtract 3x on both sides:

3x - 3x -13 = 3x - 3x - 14

-13 ≠ -14
