Two lines intersect to form a linear pair with equal measures. One angle has the measure 5x and theother angle has the measure (9y - 45). Find the values of x and y.

First of all, linear pair angles are those which sum 180° in total. However, the problem states that these angles have equal measures, so each of them must be equal to 90°

5x=90,9y-45=90

Let's solve each equation.

5x=90\rightarrow x=(90)/(5)=18

The second result would be

9y-45=90\rightarrow9y=90+45\rightarrow9y=135\rightarrow y=(135)/(9)=15

Therefore, x is equal to 18 and y is equal to 15.
