It’s hard to believe, I know,
an old man and his tales.
Stray notes from my guitar still
bounce around the mountains like ghosts.

The word "ghosts” creates a sense of

I am not quite sure, but I do believe it is loneliness because it sounds as if he is very lonely to me.
