Why is NATO still relevant today?

A.)Allied nations should always be ready to respond to threats.
B.)The European Union is a new threat to democracy.
C.)Its growth makes it virtually impossible for member countries to be attacked.

Well, we can eliminate C as nothing can make it completely impossible for a country to be attacked. The European Union is far from being "new" since it was founded 23 years ago. Therefore, I believe the answer is A.
