Ok! Expanded notation is when you take each place value n split it up, eventually adding all of the different place values. So, 45,108 in expanded notation is '

4·10,000 + 5·1,000 + 1·100 + 8·1

OK, so the tens place is not there one is cause the number in the tens place value is 0 .

The place value chart can help us to write a number in expanded notation. When we put 45,108 into the place value chart, we can recognize that our number is equal to

4 ten thousands + 5 thousands + 1 hundreds + 0 tens + 8 units

Image is provided.
