Julia is growing a tomato plant. To track its growth, she is measuring its height once per day. She records her data in a table with the plant's age (in days) and its height (in inches) QUESTION: is her table a function? is this relation one-to-one? is the domain discrete or continuous? is the range discrete or continuous?

Her table is a function if every day she has a unique height of the plant. Since she measures the plant once per day, the table is a function.

If every day the plant has a different height, then the relation is one-to-one.

Since there will be days when the plant doesn't grow, the relation is not one to one.

The domain of the table is the set of all the possible values that the age of the plant can take. Since it is measure in days, the domain is discrete because we can also have values like 1, 2, 3, 4 ... for the days

The range of the table is the set of all the possible values that the height of the plant can take. Since it could be a decimal number like 3,4 or 5,75, the range is continuous.

Answers: It is a function, It isn't a relation one-to-one, the domain is discrete and the range is continuous.
