RT is median

TP=2x+1

TQ=3x-5

Line RT is the median of the triangle, this means that it bisects QP. (cuts it exactly by its midpoint). Because of this, you can be sure that line segments QT and TP are equal, so:


QT=TP

Ifyou replace ti by the given expressions for both segments you'll determine a one unknown equation:


3x-5=2x+1

Now you can proceed to clear the value of x


\begin{gathered} 3x-5=2x+1 \\ 3x-2x=1+5 \\ x=6 \end{gathered}

And you get that the value of x is 6.
