The area is 6 feet squared. This is because the formula for perimeter is the length plus length added to the width plus width, so you know that the P is 24 and the length is 1 2/5. So you do 1 2/5 plus 1 2/5, which is 2 4/5. You do 24 divided by 2 4/5 (because the width has to add up to the perimeter divided by the length) which is then, 8 4/7. Next, since 4 2/7+ 4 2/7=8 4/7, because you now have the width and length. And since A (area) = l (length) times w (width), you do 1 2/5 times 4 2/7, which is then finally, 6. And to conclude the area is 6 feet squared. It is squared because area is found by multiplying two numbers, while volume (where you use cubed) is found by multiplying three numbers.
