The figure below shows dimensions of a block of foam used to package a triangular shaped product. The foam is in the shape of a rectangular prism with a small triangular prism removed from the center. How many cubic centimeters of foam are used to package this product?general prisms (10)A. 900 cm³B. 6,480 cm³C. 4,680 cm³D. 5,580 cm³

To resolve the de problem we must find the volume of both prisms, the rectangle, and the triangle. As we have available all the information of them, we proceed to calculate each volume

\begin{gathered} V_R=(36cm*30cm)\cdot6cm=1080cm^2\cdot6cm=6480cm^3 \\ V_T=((15cm*20cm)/(2))\cdot6cm=(300cm^2)/(2)\cdot6cm=900cm^3 \end{gathered}

Now, subtracting one from the other as we mentioned

6480cm^3-900cm^3=5580cm^3
6480cm^3-900cm^3=5580cm^3

Thus, 5580 cm^3 cubic centimeters of foam are used to package this product. The correct answer is D.
