For me, Western imperialism is when Western countries exert a certain control over another country, particularly former colonies in Asia and Africa. This can be seen either politically and economically. One example was in Cuba where the United States support the reign Fulgencio Batista even though he abused his own people. Another can be when Western Companies make more gains than local businesses.
