Darwin observed that the finch species on different Islands were similar to the finch species on the mainland but they differ in the type of beak. He predicted that these species had modified from one original mainland species and later on become different species. One of the reasons for this is that the finches had to adapt to the type of seeds they ate. Eventually, they were variations of beaks had to occur in order for them to fit well into their environment.
