\begin{gathered} -4x-10<2 \\ \text{Add 10 to both sides of the equation} \\ -4x<2+10 \\ -4x<12 \\ \text{Divide both sides of the inequality by -4} \\ x>-3 \end{gathered}

Note that unlike equations, when you divide both sides of an inequality by a negative number, the inequality sign flips over to its opposite side. Hence, in this question the sign "less than" has flipped over and its now showing as "greater than."
