Temporary changes are changes that (1) remain for a short period of time, being (2) reversible. An example of a temporary change is when a dry sand becomes wet. As we can see, this is a (3) physical change, as all the temporary changes are. Only the physical properties are changed, with (4) no transformations in molecules or formation of new substances.

Permanent changes are changes that (1) remain for long periods, (2) not being reversible. A good example of it is when a tree grows into an adult plant and can never go back to being a baby plant. This involves (3) chemical changes, as permanent changes always do. Therefore, (4) there are changes in molecules and the formation of new substances.
