In order to find the value of x, use the Pythagorean theorem, as follow:

h=\sqrt[\placeholder{⬚}]{c_1^2+c_2^2}

In this case, h = x is the hypotenuse and c1 anc c2 are the legs (c1 = 12, c2 = 9).

By replacing the previous values into the formula for h and simplifying you get:

\begin{gathered} x=\sqrt[\placeholder{⬚}]{9^2+12^2} \\ x=\sqrt[\placeholder{⬚}]{81+144} \\ x=\sqrt[\placeholder{⬚}]{225} \\ x=25 \end{gathered}

Hence, the value of x is 25
