okay so 2/5 is 2 parts of the 5 and that costs 12 so you would do 12÷2 which is 6 to and that's 1/5 of his allowance so now all you have to do is do 6 (1/5) times 5 and that gets you 30 which is his allowance. hope this helps :)

Answer:

Eric allowance is $30

Explanation:

To solve this problem, we will follow the steps below:

Let x be Eric allowance

2/5 of x = $12

(2)/(5) × x = $12

(2x)/(5) = $12

Multiply both-side of the equation by 5

(2x)/(5)×5 = $12×5

At the left-hand side of the equation 5 will cancel-out 5

2x = $60

Divide both-side of the equation by 2

(2x)/(2) =
(60)/(2)

(On the left-hand side of the equation, 2 at the numerator will cancel-out 2 at the denominator while on the right-hand side of the equation, 60 will be divided by 2)

x = $30

Therefore, Eric allowance is $30
